of working at home and choosing your own hours.

FabJob offers careers that are
exciting,

FabJob.com makes a difference
in many people's lives by inspiring them to achieve their dreams.
Career
Guide Writers
As a FabJob guide writer,
you will join our team of award-winning best-selling authors.
If you are hired to write
a FabJob guide, we will provide you with a template and you will add career-specific
content based on your own experiences, research, and recommendations from
other industry experts. For example, if the guide includes a chapter on
starting a business, the template will provide information about how to
write a business plan, and you will write a sample plan for that particular
type of business.
Assignments may involve researching
and writing an entire guide (adding a minimum of 15,000 or 20,000 words
to the template), or researching and writing part of a guide. Payment is
on a flat fee (non-royalty) basis. Assignments pay $1,500 to $2,000 U.S.,
depending on length, for writing a complete FabJob guide. For shorter assignments
fees typically range from $150 to $500.
Payment is on acceptance
(within a couple of weeks of submission). We also publish writers' bios
in the guide, and provide a copy of the e-book as well as the print book
when it is published.
Writing
Opportunities
FabJob has several templates
for different types of careers, and the amount of content that must be
added varies according to the type of career/template.
While some FabJob guides
can be written by professional writers with excellent research skills,
other guides must be written by subject experts. That's because we have
found that, with some topics, if a writer is not already familiar with
the subject matter, an overwhelming amount of work is required to learn
enough about the subject to write a FabJob guide explaining how to do the
job.
Opportunities
for Experts
We are currently seeking
individuals who are experts in the following areas to write FabJob guides
for both e-book and print publication:
-
Celebrity Personal Assistant
(update to current guide)
-
Corporate Trainer (both in-house
and starting your own training company)
-
Fashion Stylist
-
Feng Shui Consultant
-
Home Renovation Company Owner
-
Life Stylist
-
Matchmaker
-
Property Manager
-
Seminar Planner
Please note that
other advertised FabJob guide projects have been assigned to writers.
These guides will be assigned
to individuals who are experts in the careers, i.e. people who have at
least 10,000 hours or a decade of hands-on experience in the career, and
have achieved a high level of success (e.g. have won awards for their work,
have celebrity clients, or have been featured in national media publicity).
However, we will also consider
assigning a guide to a nationally published professional writer who has
written extensively about the particular field and has expert contacts
in the industry (not just friends or family members who work in the career).
Other
Opportunities
Although we are currently seeking
applications from experts in the fields listed above, in 2010 we expect
to have other guide assignments for professional writers. (These are not
entry-level positions.)
If you can write in-depth
about a variety of topics, you may apply now for future consideration.
In addition to submitting publication-ready manuscripts by the agreed upon
deadlines, the writers we hire have:
-
Exceptional academic research
skills
-
An engaging writing style
-
Respect for copyright
-
Experience writing "how to"
information
How
to Apply
If you are an expert or professional
writer who is willing and able to research and write FabJob guides according
to our template, for the pay noted above, please use the form at the bottom
of this page to submit an application.
If you are an expert, please
specify the particular guide, from among those listed above, that you are
applying to write and provide details (several hundred words) about your
qualifications as an expert in that specific subject area. If you are an
expert in more than one of the careers listed above, submit separate applications
for each.
If you are a generalist who
can write on a variety of topics, your application will be considered in
2010. Please indicate in your application if there are particular topics
you have expertise in, which fit with the FabJob product line but which
we have not yet published. For example, do you have experience working
in a bakery, starting a cleaning service, or any other type of retail or
service business? (Please note that we are not seeking a guide on how to
become a Freelance Writer as we already have a guide on that topic in development.)
We appreciate all applications,
and will provide further details about assignments to writers we are interested
in working with.
Other
Positions
The
Virtual Assistant position has been filled. We received over
500 applications and are unable to accept any more virtual assistant applications
at this time.
Although we have no other
current job openings, we expect to add to our team in 2010, so we encourage
you to submit an application using the form at the bottom of this page
if you have experience and skills that will help us sell more FabJob
guides to more people.
We think it's pretty clear
what our company is all about, but we've learned we have to come right
out and say: FabJob does not hire for the careers
we publish guides about.
For those who have figured
out that we're book publishers and not an employment agency, you may be
interested to know that the 20 jobs we don't hire for which we have received
the most applications for are (listed alphabetically): actor,
cartoonist,
celebrity
assistant, children's
book author, cruise
ship worker, event
planner, fashion
designer, flight
attendant, interior
decorator, massage
therapist, model,
motivational
speaker, mystery
shopper, personal
shopper, recording
artist, songwriter,
travel
writer, TV
reporter, video
game designer, wedding
planner.
For anyone still hoping we'll
hire them for any of the jobs listed in the previous paragraph, sorry,
but we cannot read or respond to applications for any of those jobs. If
you want one of these jobs order
a FabJob guide to learn how to break into the career of your dreams.
How
to Apply to FabJob
To increase your chance of
success, please read the following important information. Although
we usually receive hundreds of applications for every available position,
if you follow the dos and don'ts below you will already be ahead of 90%
of applicants.
Dos
-
Do read
the requirements for the position and any other recommended information
before applying.
-
Do provide specific information
about your qualifications directly related to the position you are
applying for. We receive up to 500 applications for every position so it
is important to show us why you are the ideal person for the job. (If you
need help with this, our website has a lot of fabulous free advice about
how to apply for a job.)
-
Do tell us your Myers-Briggs
Type if you are applying for any position that requires research skills
(especially any writing or editing position).
-
If you are applying for a generalist
writing position, do mention any particular small business topics you
have expertise in which fit with the FabJob product line but which we have
not yet published guides about.
-
Do remember to proofread
before hitting the submit button.
Don'ts
-
Don't apply for a virtual
assistant position because the position has been filled.
-
Don't address us as dear
sirs or make up a new name for our company (either FabJob or FabJob.com
are correct, whereas Fabio and Fatjobs are not).
-
Don't use the form to apply
for any position unrelated to our business as a book publisher.
For example, it is a waste of your time to apply to be a fashion designer,
mystery shopper, cruise ship worker, etc.
-
Don't use this form to ask us
for career advice. For fabulous advice,
order
a FabJob guide.
-
Don't disclose personal information
such as references to your health, family, religion, childhood, or age.
-
Don't provide little information
about
yourself and ask us to check out your website or contact you with more
information about a job. Because of the number of applications we receive,
we can follow up only with people we are interested in working with.
The form below can be used to
submit up to a 400 word application for the jobs described above with FabJob.
Due to the volume of applications we receive, we cannot read or respond
to other submissions.
When you submit the form
it will take you to a page that acknowledges your submission. We will respond
personally if we are interested in following up.
