About
the Authors
GEORGE
and TERRY GOULET are the authors of the book The
Metis, Memorable Events and Memorable Personalities and they
have collaborated on other literary works including the best selling book
The
Trial of Louis Riel, Justice and Mercy Denied.George Goulet
is also the author of the legal text Public Share Offerings and Stock Exchange
Listings in Canada.
GEORGE
GOULET is a direct descendent of Louis Hébert and Marie
Rollet, the first colonial family to permanently settle in Canada.
George was born at St. Boniface,
Manitoba and holds Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Laws degrees from the
University of Manitoba, and a Master of Laws degree from the University
of Toronto. He practised law for 35 years in Winnipeg, Vancouver
and Calgary.
Besides his family ties to
the first European settlers in Canada, George is a Metis and has historical
ties to the historical development of Western Canada. Pierre Delorme
(George's great grandfather) was in Louis Riel's Provisional Government
and is profiled in their Metis book. Also profiled in it is George's
great uncle the Metis martyr Elzear Goulet.
TERRY
GOULET was born in Calgary, Alberta and graduated from the University
of Manitoba with a B.Sc. (H.Ec.). During her eclectic career, she
has been a medical librarian, a paralegal, a free lance indexer of corporate
and securities law reporters for an international legal publishing firm,
and a public speaker. Besides co-authoring literary works with her husband
George, Terry was the chief researcher for the book The
Trial of Louis Riel, Justice and Mercy Denied.
George and Terry have given
presentations on the Metis and Louis Riel to thousands of people all across
Canada - from Vancouver Island in the Pacific Ocean to Prince Edward Island
in the Atlantic Ocean as well as in the United States.
Terry and George Goulet have
been interviewed many times on radio and television and for newspaper articles.
The Goulets contributed expert
information about Louis Riel to the CBC series "Canada: a People's History".
In October 2002, George was a guest panelist on the nationally televised
CBC Program "The Retrial of Louis Riel".
George

George and Terry Goulet have
given talks, workshops and seminars, on Louis Riel and the Metis all across
Canada. Their speaking venues have included universities, historical
societies, Metis assemblies, high schools, public libraries and other institutions.
In April 2007 George and
Terry presented a workshop to aboriginal teachers at the AWASIS Conference
in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan. In September 2006 George and Terry were members
of a round table discussion at the Gabriel Dumont Conference in Winnipeg
to commemorate the centennial of this Metis hero's death.
